Plastic eye surgery: types of surgeries, prices, contraindications, restoration

Blepharoplasty, also known as plastic eye surgery, is one of the cheapest and easiest surgeries in cosmetic surgery. At the same time, this intervention can alleviate the most expressive signs of aging - overload and swelling in the eyelid area. During surgery, which also lasts no more than an hour and a half, fatty hernias are carefully removed, we usually call them "bags" under the eyes, the excess skin is removed and the problem of bruising under the eyes is eliminated. And if before the operation the patient was still seeing the world "from below the eyebrows" under the weight of swelling of the upper and lower eyelids, then at the exit his vision becomes open, youthful "inverted" and fresh.

Limited eye plastic surgery

And, contrary to popular skepticism, the natural shape of the eyes after blepharoplasty does not change, they do not become artificially stretched, as, for example, in Jocelyn Wildenstein. To achieve such a result, you must at least cross the "border" of plastic surgery for one person, and there should be no more than four of them. How many of them Jocelyn had is unknown, but she clearly went beyond the bounds of what was allowed.

In general, plastic surgeons say that during surgery, the eyes are literally elongated by 1-2 mm - these changes, as a rule, are not even noticed by the patients themselves. But if they are constantly attracted and grow in size by 1 cm, then they will inevitably start to reveal all the secrets so persistently hidden.

But at the same time, experts immediately point out that the effect of eye plastic surgery lasts only 5-7 years. Therefore, most of the patients here are people over 35 years of age with obvious age-related deformities, which cause considerable discomfort to a person.

Another important point: blepharoplasty does not soften wrinkles in the corners of the eyes, also called "crow's feet". For these purposes, there are now various injections - from botulinum toxin to the most natural cocktails of hyaluronic acid-based vitamins. Today it is the easiest, fastest and most painless way to get rid of fine wrinkles, not only around the eyes, but also on the forehead, in the area of nasolabial fold, between the eyebrows.

Age-related changes are not the only indication for plastic eye surgery

before and after eye surgery

However, age as an indicator for blepharoplasty is a fairly relative criterion, as young people often turn to plastic surgeons who need plastic eye surgery against the background of premature signs of aging in this area. The premature aging of this area in them may be due to the following reasons:

  • genetic predisposition to rapid aging or the formation of "bags" under the eyes;
  • liver and kidney disease;
  • "Unhealthy" lifestyle: eating too much salty food, alcohol, smoking;
  • harmful cosmetic habits, such as stretching of the skin when applying creams, the habit of not washing the makeup, lack of proper cosmetic care.

If the young patient does not need to remove excess skin, the surgeon will prefer modern techniques of plastic eye surgery - transconjunctival blepharoplasty. This technique is more non-traumatic and does not require stitches either. The only thing, this way, you can only remove the fat deposits (bags under the eyes) on the upper and lower eyelids, without removing the other tissues.

To perform the manipulations, the plastic surgeon turns the eyelid, makes a millimeter puncture on its inner side, which is called the conjunctiva, and removes the fatty hernias through it, which are the reason for the formation of bags under the eyes. The puncture placed in the mucosa is tightened immediately after surgery without any additional intervention, as the tissues here regenerate particularly quickly. Usually, after such an operation, the patient is sent for 1-1 discharge. 5 hours after the intervention.

Indications for plastic surgery for the eyes

  • fatty hernia in the upper and / or lower eyelid area;
  • "Bruises" under the eyes;
  • swelling in the periorbital region;
  • ptosis of the upper eyelid;
  • wrinkles and excess skin around the eyes;
  • eye asymmetry (shape and cut);
  • a single fold in the upper eyelid area (typical of people with an Asian appearance)

Methods of plastic eye surgery

In modern plastic surgery, there are two main methods for performing blepharoplasty:

  • LASER- incisions are made with a laser beam;
  • Surgical- "access" opens with a scalpel.

Types of plastic surgery surgeries for eye correction

All interventions in plastic eye surgery last no more than an hour and a half. They are performed either under general anesthesia (desirable for circular blepharoplasty) or under local adrenaline-based anesthesia and 1-2 lidocaine solutions. Within two hours after surgery, the patient should be in the clinic to rule out complications.

Sutures after eye plastic surgery are removed within 3-4 days - in the case of classical blepharoplasty, if the operation was performed conjunctively, then they are not superimposed at all.

After blepharoplasty, bruising and swelling may persist around the eyes for 1 to 2 weeks. In general, this is a normal phenomenon - you just have to wait.

Plastic surgery of the upper eyelid

Assumes eye correction in the upper eyelid area. As a result, the "heavy" excess is eliminated, the excess skin is removed. For manipulations, the plastic surgeon makes an incision in the natural folding area located in the upper eyelid area, after which he removes the excess skin flap, and, after opening the entrance to the fatty tissue, he also removes them. The cut is sewn here with an inner layer and separate thinner threads. As a result, within 1-2 months the scar becomes completely invisible to the patient himself.

Plastic surgery of the lower eyelid and elimination of bruises and bags under the eyes

With blepharoplasty on the lower eyelid, an incision is made 1-2 millimeters below the lash line. During surgery, the surgeon first cuts off a portion of the excess skin, after which he opens and removes tissue from the fatty sacs, which are fatty hernias. Sometimes even the lower blepharoplasty, on the contrary, does not eliminate fat deposits, but adds a little, distributing them evenly in the "lower" area.

After that, the internal sutures are applied, which, as in the first case, after about 1-2 months completely fade and become completely invisible.

Circular blepharoplasty

This is a simultaneous correction of the lower and upper eyelids.

Plastic eye surgery

before and after eye surgery

This technique of eye plastic surgery is most sought after among people with an Asian appearance. The intervention, which is also called cantoplasty, allows you to transform a single fold of the upper eyelid, which is characteristic of the Asian population, into a double fold, similar to what we have.

During plastic surgery of the eye incision, the epicanthus (characteristic overlap of the skin fold in the inner corner of the eye) is eliminated with the simultaneous formation of a double crescent-shaped fold. Excess fat deposits around the eyes are also removed.

But the Asian appearance is not the only indicator for plastic eye surgery, that is, in addition to correcting the folding of the upper eyelid. With such an intervention, you can correct the shape of the eyes, cut them, tighten their sitting outer corners. Canthoplasty is no more traumatic than other types of blepharoplasty.

Recovery period after eye plastic surgery

On average, the recovery period lasts 2 to 6 weeks. People who are not smokers and who strictly follow all the surgeon's postoperative recommendations can count on the minimum time:

  1. for 7-10 days, the patient should wear tinted glasses;
  2. for about 10-14 days, you should stop wearing contact lenses in favor of glasses;
  3. avoid physical exertion, sudden movements, bending, this may provoke a rupture of the sutures;
  4. for at least a month you should give up cosmetic procedures;
  5. makeup is allowed only 10 days after surgery.

Contraindications to plastic eye surgery

  • cardiovascular diseases;
  • colds and infectious diseases;
  • oncology;
  • diabetes;
  • respiratory failure;
  • liver and kidney disease;
  • chronic diseases in the acute phase;
  • thyroid disease;
  • mental disorders;
  • violation of blood coagulation;
  • pregnancy and lactation

To identify the factors that hinder plastic surgery in the eye, the following tests are taken:

  • general blood test;
  • blood for coagulogram;
  • blood chemistry;
  • ECG-based cardiologist completion;
  • endocrinologist completion;
  • ultrasound of the abdominal organs;
  • blood test for HIV;
  • visiting a psychologist.

Price of plastic eye surgery

In recent years, prices for plastic surgery have dropped significantly. This is mainly due to the technologicalization of this area, but not in any way with a decline in the quality of services provided. Previously, plastic surgeons operated mainly with just one scalpel and according to outdated techniques, making large and deep incisions that left fairly visible scars. Today, instead of these techniques, there are more affordable high-tech techniques that allow you to quickly and minimally invasively perform any surgical intervention. Because of this, the price of plastic surgery has become more affordable for ordinary people.
